BOTOX®
When you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.
What can BOTOX® Treatments Do for Me?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country and one of our most requested services. Quick, safe and effective, BOTOX® reduces or eliminates facial lines and wrinkles for up to six months with no downtime or surgery and little to no discomfort. Through a series of tiny injections, BOTOX® gives you a rejuvenated look by smoothing crow's feet beneath the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines across the forehead, worry lines around the mouth, and lines on the neck.
The Importance of Choosing a Qualified Physician
Even though BOTOX® is not a surgical procedure, it is very important to choose a highly experienced and qualified physician when deciding to undergo BOTOX® treatments. Doctors who are less familiar with the technique could leave you looking "frozen" or perpetually surprised. Our doctors are intimately familiar with BOTOX® Cosmetic, having successfully treated hundreds of patients at our office. Not only that, we also take the time to talk with each candidate before beginning the injections to find out what he or she wants to achieve and to determine how best to correct the problem area(s) so patients can be happy again with their smoother, younger-looking faces.
How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® is made from a highly purified protein that is very safe when administered by a trained physician. The medication relaxes the muscles in the face that cause wrinkles. In this way, BOTOX® smoothes the lines in the skin that make you look tired or angry.
Can BOTOX® be Used for Conditions Besides Wrinkles?
Yes. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms. Talk to us about whether BOTOX® can help you.
DYSPORT®
Dysport is an FDA-approved injection treatment used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles in the forehead. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport is injected directly into the site of wrinkles to prevent the underlying muscles from contracting. Dysport injections are made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, the same protein used in Botox injections.
Dysport was developed in Europe during the early 1990s, and has been used there successfully for several years. In April 2009, Dysport was approved by the FDA for use in the US, and is expected to rival Botox, the most popular cosmetic procedure, with its convenience and long-lasting results.
Am I a Good Candidate for Dysport?
Dysport injections are ideal for nearly any patient who wishes to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and restore a younger and more refreshed appearance. Both men and women can benefit from this procedure and experience the physical and emotional effects of an improved appearance.
How are Dysport Injections Administered?
Dysport injections are administered directly into the facial muscles that cause frown lines and other wrinkles. These injections are generally painless and do not require anesthesia, although a numbing agent may be used to help minimize any discomfort for patients who are anxious about the procedure. Treatment sessions usually take less than 15 minutes to perform, and are administered at six weeks intervals. Most patients achieve their desired results within three to five injections.
What are the Results of the Dysport Treatment?
After the Dysport injection, the facial muscles will gradually relax and patients will notice the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles diminishing over one to seven days. With repeated treatment, results can last up to 13 months and treatment is required less and less frequently as the facial muscles become trained to avoid contracting.
Are Dysport Injections Safe?
Although Dysport is considered safe for most patients, there are certain risks associated with any kind of procedure. Some of these risks may include an allergic reaction or a condition known as ptosis, which involves droopiness of the eyelid. Some patients may experience mild side effects such as soreness, bruising and headache for several hours after treatment.
XEOMIN
Xeomin is a form of botulinum toxin type A that can be injected into the muscles just beneath the skin to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. Particularly effective in treating deep frown lines between the eyebrows, Xeomin has received FDA approval.
Like other types of botulinum treatments, Xeomin prevents muscles from contracting. However, Xeomin is different from its predecessors in that it contains no additives, which may decrease a patient's antibody reaction. If the immune system is not creating antibodies to fight it, the treatment will be much more successful.
Results of Xeomin treatment are typically evident in one week and last between three and six months.
